Summary: Reclassification is the process whereby a student is reclassified from English learner status to fluent English proficient (RFEP) status after meeting various linguistic and academic criteria set by the state and district. MVLA has revised its reclassification criteria and procedures based on criteria set forth by California Department of Education (CDE) guidelines. Two changes were made to our reclassification criteria 1.) From the requirement ELPAC (English Language Proficiency Assessment for California): "Overall Summative ELPAC Performance Level 4" (there was language before with possible 3's being able to RFEP). 2.) From the teacher evaluation, we added "Including, but not limited to, a review of the student's curriculum mastery. Teacher's evaluation indicates adequate progress in curriculum mastery." Previously, we only reclassified based on letter grades.
