Summary
:
AB101 requires districts to incorporate Ethnic Studies curriculum for all students. MVLA created a year-long Ethnic Studies course to fulfill this mandate and provide a rich learning experience in Ethnic Studies for our students. Ethnic Studies will be taught to students in grade 9 starting in the 23-24 school year.
MVLA recommends adjusting graduation requirements by dropping 5 credits of global studies and 5 credits of electives to support the addition of 10 credits with Ethnic Studies.
9th graders would use the new MVLA Grad requirements in the 23-24 school year, while grades 10-12 would remain with your current requirements.
