Summary:

The CDE requires that the local governing board be informed of the district's application for funding of Career Technical Education Programs.
MVLA has designated these funds to support our Freestyle Academy of Communication Arts and Technology. Perkins funds can only be used for the acquisition of materials, supplies and equipment, and to provide professional development for CTE teachers, and support the development of new courses.
The four Freestyle classes, Digital Media, Design, Animation, and Film complete a coherent sequence of courses that integrates academics with career technical education to further student learning and to prepare students for careers and/or post-secondary education in related fields.

Funding:

Perkins provides funding for career technical education program development in the allocated amount of $51,427. Funding this year, was used to replace and/or upgrade computers and other equipment, purchase software and camera equipment to ensure that students at Freestyle have access to high quality, industry-standard equipment and software.
