Summary:
|
Mountain View Los Altos High School District is requesting Change Order #1A with Rodan Builders, Inc. be ratified:
- Provide additional demo, excavation, and slurry
backfill at the 100 Wing CMU footing per the
Geotechnical Consultant’s recommendations due to
unstable subgrade conditions and the presence of
several underground electrical conduits and existing
concrete.
- Clean and dispose of the existing debris that was
discovered in the attic space of the 100 & 200
classroom wings during demolition.
- Place Mirafi cloth at base of excavation, topped with
1' of virgin AB, and compaction at the underground
electrical conduits at the center of building 100 due
to ongoing instability issues with the existing
soils/subgrade per the geotechnical engineer’s
inspection report.
- Extend the existing metal stud soffits in lieu of
demolition and reframing of the entire soffit that was
shown on the DSA approved drawings after bid time.
This occurs in 40 classrooms (approx. 800 LF) and
includes new framing, infilling existing HVAC
openings, and installing gypsum board as described
in CCD #2. By modifying the existing soffits and
avoiding the full soffit demo and reconstruction,
there will be a cost savings of approx. $40k.
- Install the additional footings at the east side of the
existing breezeway at building 200 that were shown
on the plans as existing but after field investigation, it
was found that the footings are not present. |
